Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to rodeo? It is time to kick off another great rodeo season with the Dynamite Nine.  District 9 covers Inyo and Mono counties, also including parts of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Kern counties; however, we welcome any students wanting to participate in this great sport of rodeo.  The California High School Rodeo Association is not associated with any particular school.  However to rodeo a student must have at least a 2.0 GPA and has made passing grades in a minimum of four (4) subjects, or if carrying less than 4 subjects, has passing grades in all subjects as of the latest grading period and meets all conduct requirements.  Events offered to participate in are: for boys, tie down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, boys cutting, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding and bull riding; for girls, breakaway roping, goat tying, pole bending, barrel racing, team roping, girls cutting and the queen contest.  I would like to encourage anyone even just thinking about rodeoing in the high school or jr high division, to go for it! The NHSRA, CHSRA and District 9 has given me so many wonderful opportunities such as meeting new friends, learning new rodeo events and the chase to compete at California’s state finals.  We encourage everyone to come out to a rodeo and join the fun.  We have 8 rodeos a year between Johnny Zamrzla’s Flying Rafter Z Ranch in Lancaster and the beautiful Bishop Tri County Fairgrounds.  District 9 is a friendly, family oriented district and we always encourage and help each other to learn and try new events.  It is our pride to see fellow students compete, succeed and achieve personal glory.

I am Sabrina Jasper, your 2011-2012 Miss CHSRA District 9 Queen.  I am 17 years old and a senior at Excelsior Education Center.  Pinon Hills in the beautiful high desert of sunny Southern California is where I am proud to call home.  This is my 4th year in the CHSRA and the second time I have been honored to represent the CHSRA as a District Queen.   My rodeo events include goat tying, team roping, breakaway roping, girls cutting, pole bending, barrel racing and for course the queen contest.  In my spare time I like to swim with my horses, trail ride, head, heel, and breakaway rope, play volleyball, ride in gymkhana’s, and have bonfires with my friends.  I would like to thank my many sponsors for all of their support in helping me achieve my dreams.  Also, my parents, Deborah Jasper and Noel Cook for your coaching to get me to the point I am in the arena, and the love and generosity you supply to my life.  The District 9 adult officers, without your hard work and dedication our rodeos would not be run so smoothly and enjoyable.  All parents and “friends” of District 9, without your support the rodeo year would not be so successful.  I have had a wonderful year with D9 and look forward to another great year as your Dynamite 9 Rodeo Queen.
